The Islanders were the talk of the NHL through the first week of the season as they got off to a red hot start but that quickly fizzled away after a losing skid negated their victories and dropping them back into the middle of the pack. However, the Isles are climbing back out of the hole as they are winners of two straight and can make it three with a win against the Coyotes who have had a tough time beating anybody this season. New York is a young team but has plenty of talent and should very well be considered a playoff contender as they have a ton of offensive firepower, an underrated blue line, and a goaltender in Jaroslav Halak who a few years ago was considered one of the game's best who still has plenty to prove. New York can move within a single point of the Penguins for the top spot in the division with a victory and they can earn their sixth road win in the process, a mark that would have them tied atop the league.
The Coyotes are off to a tough start this season but have played relatively well on home ice which is something they have always been able to do but unfortunately for them they have to play 41 games on the road. Arizona has a respectable 4-2 mark in front of their fans but catch an Islanders team here who is loaded with confidence after two huge wins in California and one that has a chance to pull close to their division leader and Eastern Conference power. The Coyotes aren't a terrible team but they don't have a lot in terms of scoring power which is a problem against a team like New York that has a ton. While it is still a tough task to back the Islanders on the road after years of futility I think they are actually as advertised this season and I think they prove it once again here against the Coyotes.
