Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers - 11/15/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Flyers have had an up and down start to the season as they seem to show up against some of the game's best but flop in look ahead spots which is exactly what we saw last night when Philly was dropped by the Columbus Blue Jackets on home ice. Philadelphia is one of the toughest teams in sports to try and figure out as they have a ton of talent up front and are no slouch on the blue line yet they can't seem to find any consistency in their game and while they show glimpses of the team that had Cup aspirations a few years ago they haven't been the postseason in back to back seasons. Philly will have to play at the top of their game if they're going to take down the mighty Canadiens but with guys like Calude Giroux making a homecoming of sorts expect them to show up after a sluggish effort last night.

Montreal heads into Saturday night's contest sitting atop the Atlantic division and are coming off a 5-1 drubbing of the Boston Bruins in what was their biggest victory of the season. The Habbies have 25 points in 17 games and are tied with Anaheim for the league lead and after the way they played against the Bruins I don't think it would come as a surprise to many to see Montreal right in the thick of things once again come playoff time where they will have a chance at redeeming their loss in the Conference finals to the Rangers. Carey Price has been excellent as usual in the Montreal goal but Ray Emery has also been quite good for the Flyers and I think he has a great chance here at leading the Flyers past the Canadiens in front of a raucous Bell Centre crowd. It is never easy to win in Montreal especially on Saturday night but this is a spot I can see Giroux steppingup and showing why he is one of the game's best talents.
