The Dallas Stars and the American Airlines Center play host to the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday.
The Carolina Hurricanes hit the road looking to start a long hot streak with stop number one at Dallas. The Hurricanes have been in a scoring slump and have dropped three in a row following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of visiting San Jose on Sunday evening. The Hurricanes have scored just twice in the three losses and had no luck in solving the Sharks despite blistering rookie Troy Grosenick with 45 shots which he obviously brushed aside in his debut. San Jose received a first period tally from Tomas Hertl with Joe Thornton ending it with an empty netter. Carolina did everything but score as they poured plenty of rubber on the San Jose net but in the end Anton Khudobin's 17 stops was a losing performance.

The Dallas Stars are looking to get their season pointed in the right direction and they will try to get started at American Airlines Center with the Hurricanes first on the list. The Stars are coming off a 6-2 lashing at Chicago for back to back defeats as the Blackhawks broke open a 2-2 contest with four goals in the final 20 minutes. Chicago received goals from Patrick Kane, Kris Versteeg, Jonathan Toews, Brandon Saad, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith to make a winner of Corey Crawford and his 22 saves. Curtis McKenzie and Shawn Horcoff supplied the Stars with their offense while Kari Lehtonen was hammered for all six goals on a whopping 47 shots for back to back defeats as Dallas hasn't been able to get rolling in the early going.
The under is 4-0 in Hurricanes last 4 overall and is 4-0 in Hurricanes last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game while the Hurricanes are 0-5 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. For Dallas the Stars are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and are 0-6 in their last 6 home games whie the Stars are 1-10 in their last 11 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to head the under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Dallas while the Hurricanes are 0-6 in the last 6 meetings in Dallas with the home team is 12-3-1 in the last 16 meetings. The trends point to the under but I'll reserve my final pick Tuesday afternoon when I see goalies...
