Edmonton Oilers vs. Vancouver Canucks - 11/19/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Canucks have stormed out of the gates this season as they took their first win of the year against these Oilers and havenn't looked back en route to a 12-6 start that has them as one of the game's top teams and a complete 180 from last season. The Canucks never fell short in terms of talent but last year was an absolute debacle from start to finish as the coaching culture and goaltending issues plagued the team from the opening puck drop and as such they cleaned house in all aspects and missed the playoffs. However, the Canucks are back in business so far this season and they'll look for their third win in as many tries against the Oilers with a strong effort on the road in this one. Ryan Miller has been among the game's best goaltenders this season as he sports an impressive 11-3 mark and going up against Ben Scrivens for the Oilers it gives them the edge between the pipes despite Scrivens being one of the lone bright spots in Edmonton so far this season.

The Edmonton Oilers have been up and down so far to start the season as they were the last team in the league to record a victory, then went on a nice winning streak and have now since fallen back into the Western Conference basement after going 3-6-1 in their last 10. The Oilers are still a very young team but they have had the same core together for the last few seasons and haven't been able to get anything going insinuating that maybe a culture change is in order soon and that some pieces may be on their way out sooner rather than later. The Oilers received a boost with Taylor Hall coming back into the mix after suffering an MCL sprain and he will certainly do his best to get the Oil back in the playoff hunt but there needs to be an increased sense of urgency for this team before they suffer another lost season. The Oilers always play the Canucks tough and we are getting them at plus money but if there is one thing about these two teams especially in Edmonton is that they light the lamp. I am on the over here in what I see being a shoot out.
