We’ve got a packed schedule of NHL games coming our way today, starting this afternoon and extending into the wee hours. Before we get settled in let’s check out some of the notable players and storylines out there this morning in our daily wrap-up.

Ryan Strome, C, New York Islanders: In one of yesterday’s two shootout games, the Isles took the first matchup of a home-and-home set against the Penguins.
Strome put up a goal and two assists, with Kyle Okposo notching the winning tally in the shootout for a 5-4 New York victory.
On the other side, Patric Hornqvist managed a goal and an assist, but it wasn’t enough to get goalie Marc-Andre Fleury his 300th NHL win.
The Isles are 13-6-0 this year and will play today at Nassau Coliseum.

Alex Khokhlachev, C, Boston Bruins: After seven grueling rounds in last night’s other shootout, Khokhlachev finally posted the winning score to give the Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets.
This one had a crazy third period. The Bruins were down 2-0 in the third, then ended up taking a 3-2 lead before the Jackets could respond and send it to overtime.
The Bruins are now 13-8-0 and have won three straight games. Columbus has now dropped a pair and are 6-11-2.

Cory Schneider, G, New Jersey Devils: Schneider has started 20 consecutive games for the Devils, but seems to be doing just fine fatigue-wise. He pitched a shutout yesterday against the Oilers, stopping 29 in the 2-0 win. It was his second shutout of the year so far and the 14th of his career.
Eric Gelinas (two assists) and Adam Henrique (goal) provided the offense as the other two stars of the game.
New Jersey now stands at 9-9-2, while the Oilers fall to 6-12-2.
