Two of the game's best meet up in Nashville on Tuesday night as the Predators host the defending Cup champions from Los Angeles at Bridgestone Arena.

The Los Angeles Kings face another tough task to start their season as they head into Nashville to face the Predators in what should be a tightly contested game between two of the league's top teams. The Kings have demonstrated once again that they are a team to be reckoned with in the Western Conference and have just as good as any to repeat as Cup champions but they have the unenviable task of getting their opponent's best effort every night of the week as there is added incentive for teams to beat the defending Cup champs. Los Angeles is 11-6-4 on the year but are a shocking 1-4-3 on the road which is hard to believe as their success last year stemmed largely from playing well away from the Staples Center. The Kings need to find a way to be able to generate the same intensity and drive on the road as they do at home though with this being such a small sample size you can't critique them too much this early in the year.
The Predators meanwhile have been one of the league's biggest surprises to start the season as they have gone from being a non-playoff team to second in the Central division and have a 13-5-2 record through their first 20 contests. Nashville has always prided itself on having a strong defensive core and this season is no different as they are led by Shea Weber and Seth Jones but perhaps their biggest acquisition was bringing in James Neal to help stir the offense and so far it has worked nicely as Nashville has played very well and look like a team on a mission. The preds do have some household names but perhaps the most pleasant has been Filip Forsberg who leads the team in scoring, leads all rookies in scoring, and leads the league in plus minus which is an incredible feat and at this rate he is a lock for the Calder Trophy. This game shapes up to be a good one and while it is always smart to jump on the Kings at plus money I just don't like how they have been on the road this season and until something changes I will fade them outside the Staples Center.
