Nashville Predators vs. Edmonton Oilers - 11/27/14 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Oilers have gone from bad to worse this season as they were expected to make a leap towards the postseason picture but instead are looking like a team in tank mode once again and are likely to make some moves sooner rather than later. Edmonton has looked awful of late and they heard it loud and clear from their fans after a loss to the Blackhawks and while they looked much better in their loss against Dallas the Stars haven't exactly been the game's top team either and now they head into Nashville to take on a Predators team that is 14-5-2 and sitting atop the Central division. Edmonton has been rumored to be shopping some of their top talents and while he isn't the one many had in mind it is clear that David Perron will be on his way out of town as early as the weekend but what exactly his value will yield remains to be seen but a top six forward or a top four blue liner is what is expected to come back depending on the team in question. For now though, the Oilers must stay focused on the task at hand and this is a tough one as the Preds are a very solid team.

Nashville has been cruising through their first 21 games and sit atop a really competitive Central division that includes Chicago and St. Louis and they can extend that lead with a strong effort here against Edmonton. The Predators are once again a very strong team defensively but as they demonstrated in their win against the Leafs last week they can score the puck as well and with so much balance in their lineup the Preds certainly look like a playoff team and should be able to stay competitive in the Central throughout the season. The line on this game is really chalky and for good cause as the Preds are by far the better team and should get the win comfortably but I think the Oilers will do their best to avoid another embarrassment and in order to do that they'll have to find ways to beat Pekka Rinne. I think this game goes over the total and unless you want to parlay the Preds with something else I think this is the best bet.
