The Edmonton Oilers have been highly critcized over the last few weeks and for good reason but you can't argue with how much heart and effort they have come back with after their dreadful 7-1 loss at home to the Chicago Blackhawks and Thursday night was a perfect representation of that. The Oil went into Nashville to take on a Predators team who is at the top of the Western Conference and pushed them into overtime before the Preds broke the deadlock and stole the second point behind what was a special effort from goaltender Viktor Fasth. Edmonton can't dwell too much though and can't hold moral victories too highly as they head into St. Louis to take on another power house in the Blues who will be looking to keep pace with the Predators after their win last night. Ben Scrivens is expected to get the start for the Oilers while Pekka Rinne will go for Nashville.
The Blues can move into a tie for first in the Central division with a victory tonight after the Predators squeaked out a win yesterday against these same Oilers to put them two points up at the quarter mark. St. Louis has been as consistent as they come this season and look like a Cup contender once again but only time will tell how they will react in the postseason after the last few years have ended in premature disappointment. St. Louis has a ton of talent and always seem to have someone else emerge from the woodwork every season and this year it has been Jori Lehtera who has been one of the game's top point prodcuers alongside Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko. There is no question the Blues should be big favourites here but even the puck line value stinks and as such I'll play the total and in a back to back for Edmonton and a look ahead for the Blues I think we see a low scoring game that stays under the number.
