The Philadelphia Flyers complete a California double header on Wednesday night as they take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center a night after playing in San Jose against the Sharks – a game that is tied at one after 40 minutes – in what should be a tough match up for the Flyers against one of the league's best. The Flyers are a frustrating team to watch as they have the talent to be a playoff contender but they can't seem to find any consistency in their game and as such they sit under the .500 mark and are stuck in a rut in the Metropolitan division. Philly will likely turn to Ray Emery in this one after Steve Mason got the call last night against the Sharks and going up against Frederik Andersen will be no easy test and Emery knows he will have to play well if the Flyers are to get a win against one of the Western Conference favourites.
The Ducks are a loaded up at both ends of the ice but their forte lies up front as they have a ton of fire power that rivals any team in hockey and if they can get continued production out of Andersen and John Gibson in the crease than Anaheim will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time. The Ducks rely on a heavy dose of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry but they do have a lot of depth and plenty of secondary scoring in case their top two run dry and their special teams is strong to as guys chip in from the back end. Anaheim is 8-3-3 at home while the Flyers are 2-8-1 on the road as of Tuesday night and I think this will be a tough spot for them against a Ducks team that is well rested. Either way I think we see a ton of scoring here despite Andersen's strong numbers and I think Anaheim gets the win in regulation.
