The Blackhawks are playing their best stretch of the season at the moment and won their fifth straight game last night by upending the Montreal Canadiens at the United Center but they have no time to rest as they face a pivotal show down against their division rivals in Nashville tonight. The Hawks sit a single point back of the Preds heading into Saturday's game and can leave the Music City with the division lead but they know full well it'll be a blood bath against a very good Predators team that has taken the league by storm and has regained a sense of unity after a couple years outside the playoff picture. Scott Darling will likely get the call for the Hawks here as Corey Crawford remains sidelined and with Antii Raanta playing last night we are likely to see the infrequently used Darling who goes up against Pekka Rinne.
The Predators have been very exciting to watch and for a franchise that was gutted a few years back when Ryan Suter left town and a couple others left the continent to go back to the KHL it is nice to see them back in the Western Conference playoff hunt. The Preds are 17-6-2 so far this season and as mentioned sit a point up on the Hawks for the division lead and they have been lights out at home posting a staggering 11-1-1 mark at Bridgestone Arena giving them an edge here against the red hot Blackhawks. The line on this one could move depending on who gets the start but I imagine it'll be Darling and as such the Preds have an edge in goal and while I think Chicago is the better team the context here favours the Preds and I think they get it done and end Chicago's winning streak.
