The Toronto Maple Leafs scored two late goals in the third period including one into an empty net and received a stellar effort from Jonathan Bernier as the Buds took down the Flames by a 4-1 final at the ACC on Tuesday night. Toronto has been red hot of late as they have won 6 of their last 10 contests and are quickly making their way back into the Atlantic division race sitting six points back of the Red Wings coming into tonight's contest. Bernier will likely get the night off in this one and will give way to James Reimer who has be to considered one of the best backups in all of hockey as he could very well be starting for a few teams at the moment and Reimer will have to be on point tonight as he goes up against a tough Red Wings squad led by Jimmy Howard.
Detroit has been one of the bigger surprises this season but for a team that has made the playoffs for two plus decades in succession seeing them on top of their division shouldn't come as a shock to anybody. Detroit has a ton of young talent that was a part of their AHL affiliate's run to the Calder Cup a couple seasons ago and now alongside the big club mainstays are creating the next wave of Detroit Red Wings dominance. While Detroit has a ton of firepower and household names their MVP for me this season has been Howard as he is among the league's best goaltenders through 28 games and if his play continues he will certainly be in the running for the Vezina and his team could be in the running for the Stanley Cup. This will be a very exciting game but I am not a huge fan of the line as I think Toronto can keep this pretty close and have a chance at an outright victory. Either way I like the under as I expect Reimer to play very well and with Howard at the other end I expect scoring to be at a premium.
