The Sharks have been one of the best teams in the league this season and have really turned things on in the last month or so as they sit in third in the Pacific division and are right in the hunt for a playoff spot as we approach the end of the calendar year. The Sharks are doing a great job this year especially after the way things ended for them last year and amid a ton of rumors surrounding the future of their head coach, general manager, and on ice personnel they continue to find ways to win. The Sharks did loser a pivotal game to the Canucks last night on home ice with Alex Stalock between the pipes who many believe should be the team's full time starter and now they face their second divisional foe in as many nights, this time on the road against the league's top team. Antii Niemi will start for the Sharks while Frederik Andersen will start for Anaheim.
The Ducks have been the class of the NHL since the puck dropped back in October and as we get set to finish off 2014 they can stay atop the league standings with a victory over the Sharks on Wednesday. Anaheim has a ridiculous 12-3-3 mark at home this season while the Sharks are just 9-8-3 which gives the Ducks the edge both in context and with the odds makers but this game could be a lot closer than people think. San Jose likely started Alex Stalock last night in anticipation of this match up against the Ducks and with Niemi going against Andersen we should be in for a solid game that will test the depth of both teams. If that is the case than I think the home side prevails as they have a touch more in terms of offensive depth in their roster and I think Anaheim continues their winning ways and sends the Sharks to their second straight loss.
