The NHL will be churning along steadily tonight, as we’ve got 10 matchups to look forward to. In the meantime, there are plenty of players to check out in our daily wrap-up, so let’s visit with a few of the guys in the headlines.

Max Pacioretty, LW, Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens hung around against the Blue Jackets yesterday, despite trailing 2-0 heading into the third. That all changed on three power-play goals in the final period in a span of 3:53, however, and Montreal escaped Columbus with a 3-2 victory.
Pacioretty scored twice and Andrei Markov added a pair of assists. P.K. Subban posted the other score. Montreal is now 27-12-3 on the year.

Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: Holtby was on fire once again last night, helping the Caps shut out the visiting Flyers last night at Verizon Center. He put up 21 saves in the 1-0 victory, with winger Jason Chimera posting the game-winning goal.
It was Holtby’s 20th consecutive start and his fourth shutout of the season. The Caps are now 24-11-8 on the year.

Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim Ducks: Perry has a knack for this hat-trick thing. He put up his third hat trick of the year last night on six shots against the Maple Leafs in Anaheim as the Ducks cruised to a 4-0 victory. Ryan Getzlaf added two assists and Frederik Andersen managed 28 saves.
With the victory, the Ducks put an end to their six-game losing streak against the Maple Leafs.

Steve Bernier, RW, New Jersey Devils: Bernier was huge in the Devils 5-3 victory over the Kings at Staples Center last night. He had two goals, with his second marking the beginning of a three-goal explosion in 68 seconds in the second. The scoring onslaught would carry Jersey to the win.
The Devils had 11 different guys with at least a point and move to 16-21-8 on the year. L.A. meanwhile, falls to 20-14-10.
