After a very busy return from the All-Star break last night, there are just three games in the NHL this evening. That being said, there are plenty of subjects to talk about this morning in our daily wrap-up, so with that in mind let’s check out some of the hot-topic players out there.

Jaroslav Halak, G, NY Islanders: Halak doesn’t seem to be having much trouble with the Rangers this year--heck, the whole Isles team doesn’t have much trouble with them these days.
The Islanders took it to the Rangers 4-1 in Uniondale last night, keeping the former perfect against the latter this season so far. Halak made a season-high 40 saves in the victory at Nassau Coliseum.
The Isles are now in first place with a 32-14-1 record.

Kris Letang, D, Pittsburgh Penguins: Letang was a busy guy last night against the Jets at Consol Energy Center. He put up a whopping five assists in the 5-3 victory, bringing the Pens’ record so far this season to 27-12-8.
Pittsburgh was without both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin for this one--both out with lower-body issues.

Cam Atkinson, RW, Columbus Blue Jackets: The Jackets are trying to save their season right now, and this is the way to do it. The team got a solid 4-3 win over the Capitals last night, thanks to a goal and an assist by Atkinson. Nick Foligno would add two assists of his own.
The Jackets have won three of four and hold a 21-22-3 record right now. It’s hard telling what they’ll be able to do without top goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

Frederik Andersen, G, Anaheim Ducks: Andersen now has seven straight victories to his credit, following a 4-0 win against the Canucks at Rogers Arena in Vancouver last night. Rickard Rakell posted a goal and an assist for Andersen, who made 17 saves.
The Ducks are the first NHL team to 70 points this year and hold a record of 32-10-6.
