The Penguins were sitting pretty atop the Metropolitan division with the New York Islanders in what looked like a two horse race for the division title but a tailspin from the Pens and a surge from the Caps and Rangers has made things much more interesting and not as concrete as once thought. The Caps and Rangers are just three and four points back respectively and with a little over 30 games left in the regular season Pittsburgh could go from potential division winner to playing for a wild card spot and while they are more than capable of turning this around it makes you wonder whether the departures in the off season have caught up with them and whether they'll be looking to add pieces at the trade deadline. Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to get the start despite losing his last start to the Capitals and he will be going up against Corey Schneider who continues to be a work horse in the New Jersey crease.
The Devils meanwhile are coming off a shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs and have won back to back games but still sit in second to last place in the division and are a ways off from the postseason in what is certainly a rebuilding year. New Jersey has lost four more games than they've won and will likely end up with a pretty solid draft spot in July but that doesn't mean they won't be looking to relish in the spoiler role especially against division rivals and with a home date against the struggling Pens this could be the perfect time for New Jersey to pounce. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening as Pittsburgh is clearly the better team of the lot and are still very much in contention to win the division and with Sidney Crosby back at full health I think he and the Pens do enough to get the win on the road at a pretty decent price.
