Vancouver Canucks vs. Buffalo Sabres 1/30/15 - NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Sabres continue their Western Canada road trip in Vancouver on Friday night against arguably the toughest of the three teams and they'll aim to put an end to their ugly losing skid and pull off the massive upset. Buffalo came into the season fully expecting a rebuilding season but at the moment they sit in dead last in the league, are in the midst of a double digit losing streak, and are in line to land the top overall selection in July's draft. Buffalo will bounce back in a few seasons as they have some nice pieces in place and a few more on the way and if they can land Connor McDavid it'd be an immediate boost that would not only help the franchise from a marketing and sales perspective but from a talent one as well. Buffalo are massive underdogs here and could very well be starting Matt Hackett as Jhonas Enroth got the call in Edmonton last night but regardless of who gets the call it'll be a nightmare as the Canucks know they need every win they can get in the tight Pacific division and they have Saturday night off.

The Canucks have rebounded nicely this season after a year in turmoil and while a division title is all but out of the question at this point thanks to Anaheim's incredible run the Canucks are right in the mix in the playoff picture in the log jammed Pacific division. Vancouver sits in third place in the division but only two points separate second from fifth and this race will likely come right down to the wire as all of the teams in the fold have been playing pretty solid hockey. Vancouver was a playoff caliber team a year ago despite all of the distractions on and off the ice so it is no surprise they are back in the mix but Ryan Miller's resurgence has been great to watch and now he gets to take out all of his frustrations out on his former team here and I wouldn't be surprised if Miller puts up one of his career best efforts here and that is saying a lot. There isn't much to look at here – Vancouver steamrolls.
