The Jets have picked a bad time to go on a losing skid as the second half of the season has kicked off and playoff races will start taking shape and with the talent in front of them in the standings it'll be tough for them to make up ground if they can't halt their losing ways. Winnipeg has been one of the most impressive teams in the league this season as they stormed out of the gates to start the season and have stayed there ever since but heading into Monday's game they are just three points up on the Flames for the first wild card spot and six up on the Kings for the first position out. Winnipeg has been quite good on the road this season though and they will look to continue that success in Calgary against the Flames who netted four third period goals to steal a game from the Edmonton Oilers. Ondrej Pavelec is expected to start for the Flames as he will go up against Jonas Hiller.
The Flames have won six of their last 10 contests and are staying afloat in the Western Conference playoff picture but they too know the importance of every game moving forward as they are being chased by a handful of teams looking to steal the second wild card spot. Calgary has been one of the more surprising teams in the league as they have well shot over expectations coming into the season and if they can make the playoffs there is no telling how far they can go as they have a great defensive unit that has contributed up front all season and a great group of forwards. Calgary is 13-10-2 at home this season which isn't great but also isn't a major cause for concern but I am a little worried with how well Winnipeg has played on the road and how that will factor into the result. I would be more confident if Hutchinson was getting the nod here but I like the Jets to end their losing streak and hand Calgary the loss they should have had on Saturday night.
