Minnesota Wild vs. Chicago Blackhawks - 2/3/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a shutout loss in San Jose over the weekend and will look to get back in the mix in the Cntral division with a pivotal road victory against a suddenly surging Wild team that had a very successful Western road trip. The Hawks sit four points back of the Predators for top spot in the division and have a four point buffer on the Jets for the third and final automatic playoff spot but the Hawks have their sights set on home ice advantage and will be turning things up here in the unofficial second half of the season. The Hawks are't a team to shy away from making some moves at the trade deadline and they could very well bring some pieces in to push them over the edge as they look to get back to the Cup finals and claim their third championship in five seasons. Corey Crawford is expected to get the start as he will go up against the red hot Devan Dubnyk who is thriving in his new role with Minnesota.

The Wild are returning home after a great road trip in Western Canada saw them sweep the Oilers, Flames, and Canucks and while the still sit in last place in the division they are just five points back of a wild card spot and you can bet that if they get in no team would want to take them on in the first round. Minnesota is a very good team that has underachieved all season and are definitely one of the bigger disappointments in the NHL but they can write that all off if they can get into the postseason and after acquiring Dubnyk from Arizona that is looking more and more possible as the recent journeyman is thriving in the Wild crease. Minnesota is in desperation mode but they are in a decent spot here as they pretty heavy home dogs and have had success on home ice this season while the Hawks are coming off a 2-0 loss to the Sharks that likely didn't sit well in the dressing room. While Minny is getting great value here it is tough to pass up on Chicago as they're too talented to get blanked again and this could very well be a coming out party for their offense.
