We’re coming off a very busy 11-game set in the NHL last night, but the league is easing things up a bit this evening. We’ve got just three games to look forward to in the coming hours, but the matchups look pretty good. That said, let’s take our daily look at the key players and headlines.

Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: The Capitals came into last night on a 1-6 run, but they looked like a different team against the Kings. Holtby posted 27 saves in a shutout during the 4-0 victory, while Troy Brouwer provided two goals. Nicklas Backstrom also contributed on a goal and an assist.
Washington is now 26-15-10, while the Kings move to 21-17-12.

Mike Smith, G, Arizona Coyotes: Not to be outdone, Smith also had a good game, bagging 30 saves on 31 shots. The end result was a 4-1 victory for the Coyotes over the Jackets in Columbus last night at Nationwide Arena.
It was the Coyotes’ second straight win and ends their road trip at 3-3-2. Arizona is now 19-26-6 on the season.
Columbus, meanwhile, moves to 21-25-3.

Devan Dubnyk, G, Minnesota Wild: Let’s go ahead and recognize Dubnyk as well this morning, as he deserves some props for his performance against the Blackhawks last night at Xcel Energy Center.
Dubnyk put up 24 saves on 24 shots in a 3-0 shutout win. Mikko Koivu added some offense on a goal and an assist of his own.
Dubnyk is now 6-1-0 since moving to the Wild on January 14 and the team has won four straight since the break.

Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim Ducks: Down 4-2 against the Hurricanes in the third period last night, things looked bleak for the Ducks. The team was able to rally back and force overtime, however, and Ryan Getzlaf scored 45 seconds in to get the team out with a 5-4 win.
Perry was also instrumental here, posting two goals and an assist.
The Ducks are now 33-12-6 on the year, and 23-0-6 in one-goal games thus far.
