Nashville Predators vs. Winnipeg Jets - 2/12/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Winnipeg Jets got the trade season started with a bang on Wednesday as disgruntled and injured forward Evander Kane and stalwart defenseman Zach Bogosian were shipped to Buffalo for Drew Stafford and Tyler Myers plus a handful of prospects and picks in what was a great trade for both sides but helps the Jets in the short term. Myers has been on the cusp of greatness for some time and while some would say his performance in the league thus far has been a bit of a disappointment he brings a ton of size to the blue line and is a great puck mover and with the injury bug biting the Jets' defensive core all season this is a great play for them as they get a solid defeseman as well as a third line winger in Stafford. The Jets currently sit in a playoff spot as one of the wild card holders and they will look to improve their standing with a big time win on the road here against the Preds.

The Predators look to continue their impressive season and stay atop the league standings with a win on home ice against the Jets in what could be a first round matchup if seedings change over the next few weeks. Nashville has taken the league by storm and has gone from missing the playoffs to being the front runner to win the President's Trophy and for a team that has always been built on their blue line they have really come into their own offensively this season thanks in large part to james Neal and rookie sensation Filip Forsberg. Nashville has been lights out at home this seaosn sporting a 22-3-1 record at Bridgestone Arena but the Jets have been great on the road with a 14-8-6 mark away from home so we could see a tight matchup between two teams looking for a pivotal win. While the Jets are a team I have been backing a ton and the Preds are a team who I think have overachieved all season I do like the spot here for Nashville as they're at home against a team adjusting to new players and Rinne is back into a groove after missing some time and I think all put together the Preds get the win at home here.
