Nashville Predators vs. New Jersey Devils - 2/14/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Devils are coming off a 3-1 loss on the road in Chicago last night and now have to go from one league power to another as they head into Nashville to face off against the Predators. New Jersey has had a tough season and their offensive woes continued in Chicago last night and now they take on a Preds team who is known for their stingy defense and will be well rested after having Friday night off. The loss and a Columbus victory has the Devils in seventh place in the Metro division and they are on officially in the running for a top five draft pick which could do them wonders if they can get a solid player but they are more than just a draft pick away from getting back to the playoffs despite having Corey Schneider between the pipes. Schneider could very well get the nod in this one tonight even though he played in Chicago last night but don't be surprised if the Devils go with Keith Kinkaid who will have a tough time contending with Pekka Rinne.

The impressive season in Nashville continues on Saturday as the Preds look to maintain their league best record and add to their ridiculous 80 point mark they reached with a victory in their last game against the Winnipeg Jets. The Preds are very much in the driver's seat to claim the President's Trophy and top spot in the Western Conference especially now that Pekka Rinne is back in the crease and with the way the Finnish national has played this season he could very well be in the running not only for the Vezina but could take down the first Hart Trophy for a goaltender since Jose Theodore did with the Montreal Canadiens. Nashville are likely to be huge favourites in this one regardless of who gets the start and I think they should have an easy time ridding whoever is in goal but either way I think this one stays under as the Devils are in a back to back and both Schneider and Kinkaid have been solid this season and with Rinne at the other end it is pretty much a lock.
