We’re coming off a busy 9-game Saturday in the NHL, and there are five more games to look forward to in the coming hours. Before we get settled in and check out some of the on-ice action out there, let’s visit with some of the headlines and see which players are in the news.

Milan Michaelek, LW, Ottawa Senators: The Senators scored a big win over the Oilers yesterday, bagging a 7-2 result at Canadian Tire Centre. Michalek posted two goals and an assist in the victory, while Mike Hoffman added a goal and an assist of his own and Mark Stone had two helpers.
For the Senators, it was just their second win in the last six games. The Oilers are now 16-32-9 and are 2-3-0 on their current six-game road trip.

John Tavares, C, New York Islanders: Tavares had a memorable game yesterday against the Blue Jackets at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. He posted two goals and two assists in the 6-3 win, while Josh Baley notched two goals and a helper of his own. Anders Lee also managed a four-point game with four assists.
The Isles have won four in a row and move to 37-18-1 on the season.

Rick Nash, LW, New York Rangers: Rangers coach Alain Vigneault bagged his 500th NHL victory last night as his Rangers took care of the Coyotes 5-1 in Glendale. He’s the 21st coach in league history to reach that milestone.
Nash posted a goal in the victory, giving him a league-leading 35 scores on the season. His was part of a four-goal third period that carried New York to the big win.
Backup goalie Cam Talbot posted 34 saves and a big penalty shot denial to anchor the defense.

Dennis Everberg, RW, Colorado Avalanche: Over at Pepsi Center yesterday, the host Avalanche put up a balanced effort against the Stars for a 4-1 victory. Everberg finished with a goal and an assist, part of four different Avs players who found the twine.
Colorado has won all four matchups against Dallas this year and moves to 23-22-11 on the season.
Dallas was without Tyler Seguin, who will be out 3-6 weeks with a knee injury.
