The Minnesota Wild have been the league's best team over the last two weeks having gone 8-0-2 in their last 10 contests and have played their way back into the playoff discussion as they sit just two points back of the Flames for the second wild card spot and five back of the Jets for fouth in the division. The acquisition of Devan Dubnyk was supposed to be an insurance policy for the Wild but instead it has turned out to be the move of the season so far as the former Oilers and Coyotes back up has stolen the headlines since his move to the Twin Cities and could very well lead his team into the playoffs and beyond. Minnesota was expected to be a playoff contender once again this season and while they have started slowly they are finishing very well and if they can keep up their strong play they will certainly be a tough out for any team in the opening round and they could even make a serious push at winning the West.
The Canucks meanwhile are in a logjam right now in the Pacific division as they are tied with the Flames for third place and at the moment they have one of the three divisional playoff seeds to their name but the West is loaded and teams are neck and neck in what should be a very exciting finish to the regular season. Vancouver has to worry about a handful of teams behind them as the Flames. Wild, Kings, Stars, and Avalanche are all within striking distance and if they can't get into a groove where they are stringing together victories their rebound season could fall short and leave them back to the drawing board in the offseason. I haven't been a huge fan of this year's Canucks team despite their relative success and to be honest I don't see them getting in to the playoffs despite Ryan Miller's best efforts as I think there are other teams in the West that are deeper and that starts with this Wild team who is playing with a ton of confidence at the moment.
