The Devils look to end their ugly four game slide with a victory on home ice on Tuesday when they welcome the league worst Buffalo Sabres to town.

New Jersey Devils vs. Buffalo Sabres - 2/17/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Buffalo Sabres have had a train wreck of a season but that hasn't stopped them from making headlines and last week they kicked off trade season with the Winnipeg Jets by acquiring Zach Bogosian and the injured Evander Kane and have put themselves in a position to be very strong for the future. The Sabres have some bright prospects in the system and while one of them is on his way to Winnipeg in the deal for Kane the Sabres are likely to end up with the top draft pick in July and could very well land top prospect and generational talent Connor McDavid to go alongside a young core and former second overall pick Sam Reinhart. The Sabres have lost three games in a row and are six points clear of the Oilers for the league's worst record and with a little under 30 games left the Sabres will likely send some other pieces out the door and look to rejoining the mix as early as next season. Michal Neuvirth will get the start as he will go up against Corey Schneider.

The Devils had faint playoff hopes a week ago but a four game losing streak has all but sealed their fate and now the trade rumors being to turn surrounding some of the veteran pieces on the roster, namely Jaromir Jagr. New Jersey was expected to contend for a wild card spot this season but instead they are now playing their way into a top five draft choice and with very few big time prospects in their system and even fewer on the active roster it is time to give the Devils a facelift and bring in some pieces to play in front of Corey Schneider. The Devils goaltender has hands down been the team's MVP this season and he deserves much more recognition for his efforts on this team and if they can add some help on the back end and draft or trade for a scorer they could very well be back in business in a couple years. As for tonight they get the Sabres who are in tank mode and can ill afford wins at this point so I think Schneider can single handily get the win here for the Devils.
