Darren Helm, C, Detroit Red Wings: One of the NHL’s most storied rivalries posted another edition in their long list of battles last night, and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Detroit took a 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks at United Center, with Helm accounting for a goal and an assist.
Goalie Jimmy Howard made 32 saves on 34 shots to help Detroit get to 32-14-10 and end a three-game losing skid.
Chicago is now 35-18-5.

Jonathan Quick, G, Los Angeles Kings: Quick had himself a busy night at Pepsi Center against the Colorado Avalanche. He posted 42 saves on 43 shots in a great performance, helping the defending champion Kings to a 4-1 victory.
Jeff Carter added a pair of goals on six shots.
The Kings are on a six game winning streak now, during which they’ve outscored their opposition by a margin of 23-12. They’re 27-18-12 on the year.

Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay Lightning: When the Lightning came out for the second period at Honda Center against the Ducks last night, they played like a different team. After getting beaten up in the first, they responded with four goals in the second, riding that wave to a 4-1 victory. Stamkos capped the rally with his 31st goal of the season.
The Lightning are now 36-18-6 and have three more road games left before they get back home.
