We’ve got another seven-game schedule ahead in the NHL tonight, fresh off a seven-game set last night. While we’re waiting around on game-time, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations from around the league and see who’s in the news.

Nick Leddy, D, NY Islanders: The Isles continued to cruise along last night in a big matchup against the Predators in Uniondale, emerging victorious 5-2. Leddy posted a goal and two assists, while teammate John Tavares added a score and helper of his own.
Jaroslav Halak tied the Islanders record for wins with 32.
The Isles are now 39-19-1 and the Preds move to 39-13-6.

NHL News: Player News and Updates for 2/20/15


Henrik Sedin, C, Vancouver Canucks: Elsewhere in New York, the Rangers fell to the Canucks in a very short shootout last night at the Garden. Sedin posted two goals in the comeback win, while net-minder Ryan Miller added 30 saves.
Vancouver is 3-1 in shootouts this year, the Rangers are a paltry 2-5.
The Canucks have won four of five and now stand at 33-21-3.

Nicklas Backstrom, C, Washington Capitals: The Caps took a big win at Verizon Center yesterday, bagging their seventh win in a row against the Jets. Backstrom posted two goals and an assist, while league-leading scorer Alex Ovechkin added to his total with a goal and a helper of his own.
The Caps are 32-17-10 on the season and in third place in the Metropolitan.

Andrew Desjardins, C, San Jose Sharks: The sharks put up a solid win last night against the Stars at American Airlines Center. Desjardins put in two goals in the 5-2 victory while goalie Antti Niemi managed 37 saves on 39 shots.
The Sharks are now 30-22-8 and in the second Wild Card slot in the West. They’re two points ahead of the Kings.
