It’s been a very busy weekend for the NHL, and we’ve got even more action coming up today with eight games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on game-time, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the league.

Jakub Kindl, D, Detroit Red Wings: What a crazy game this was. The Red Wings escaped by the skin of their teeth agians the Stars last night at American Airlines center, falling behind by two goals twice in the game and somehow pulling out a 7-6 victory in overtime.
Kindl scored twice in the span of 45 seconds in the third, and Pavel Datsyuk scored a pair of goals as well, one being the game-tying goal that would force the extra period.

Kyle Turris, C, Ottawa Senators: Turris put up a goal and two assists last night against the Panthers at Canadian Tire Centre, helping Ottawa to a 4-1 victory.
It marked a victory in the second straight NHL start for goalie Andrew Hammond, who made 21 saves. He’s in net now thanks to a pair of injuries to Anderson and Lehner, the team’s top two net-minders.
The Senators are now 24-23-10 on the season.

Andy Greene, D, New Jersey Devils: Greene scored a goal to help the Devils to a 3-1 victory over the Hurricanes last night at Prudential Center.
The big news here, however, was goaltender Keith Kinkaid, who was injured in the second period with what looked to be a lower-body injury. He appeared to pull something while stretching for a save.
Cory Schneider would come on in relief to finish the game and help the team bag the win.

Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: Holtby made 30 saves on 32 shots as the Capitals beat the Islanders by a score of 3-2 in a shootout yesterday at Verizon Center in the league’s early game.
Washington is now on a four-game win streak for the first time this year, and the team is now just four points back from the division-leading Isles in the hotly-contested Metropolitan.
