After a half-dozen games in the NHL last night, we’ve got 10 more to look forward to this evening. The action starts this afternoon, so before we get settled in let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there right now.

Ryan Spooner, C, Boston Bruins: The 23-year-old Spooner got his first NHL goal at a very opportune time for the Bruins last night in Newark. He scored with 2:14 left in overtime, giving Boston a 3-2 win over the Devils at Prudential Center.
The Bruins have won just twice in the last nine games (2-5-2) and are 30-22-9 on the season.
On the other side, the Devils are 25-27-10 and just closed out a six-game home-stand.

Jaroslav Halak, G, NY Islanders: In another one-goal game, the Islanders took a 2-1 victory over the Flames in Uniondale at Nassau Coliseum last night. Halak had 26 saves on 27 shots, setting an Isles record with his 33rd win of the season. He’s 33-13-0, moving past Billy Smith, Chris Osgood and Rick DiPetro.
The Islanders’ charmed season continues at 41-20-2.

Anton Khudobin, G, Carolina Hurricanes: Let’s stay in net and talk about Khudobin, who posted a shutout last night at PNC Arena against the Capitals. He put up 28 saves in the 3-0 victory. Bellemore Skinner and Gerbe each scored a goal to get the ‘Canes to 23-30-7 on the season.
On the other side, the Caps have lost three in a row and sit at 33-20-10 on the year.

Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay Lightning: Not to be outdone, Bishop also bagged a shutout last night. His came at home at Amalie Arena against the visiting Blackhawks. He managed 28 saves in the 4-0 shutout, his second of the season.
Steven Stamkos helped out as usual, managing to score twice.
The Lightning are now 38-19-6 and three points behind the Canadiens for first place in the Eastern Conference.
