We’ve got a stacked evening ahead in the NHL, with 10 games ahead for our viewing enjoyment. While we’re waiting on those pucks to hit the ice, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there in the headlines today. Here’s a closer look.
Mats Zuccarello, RW, New York Rangers: Just a few hours into his contract extension, Zuccarello was already earning his money. He came up with two assists last night at the Garden, helping the Rangers get past the Predators 4-1.
Cam Talbot put up 25 saves in a solid effort as well.
Defenseman Keith Yandle made his Rangers debut here and played well, helping the team to a 39-17-6 record and a 40-26 shot advantage.

Jonathan Toews, C, Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks trotted out some new additions last night as well, with Kimmo Timonen and Antoine Vermette playing their first game in Chicago uniforms.
The result was a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes at United Center, with Toews leading the way on two goals and an assist. Michal Rozsival added a pair of helpers of his own.
As for Toews, he has passed the 20-goal threshold for the eighth straight year.
Chicago is now 38-21-5 on the year.
Alex Stalock, G, San Jose Sharks: The Sharks needed a boost last night against the Canadiens, and they got it in a 4-0 victory. Stalock put up 20 saves in the shutout, while newly-acquired Ben Smith managed a goal and an assist. Joe Pavelski put up a goal and an assist as well.
The Sharks had lost eight straight home games going into this one, and five of six overall. They’re now 31-25-8 on the year.
