We’ve got a huge day of action ahead of us in the NHL. The games will be getting started early this afternoon, so there will be plenty to divert hockey fans’ attentions. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the league.
Andrew Hammond, G, Ottawa Senators: The Senators made a big statement to the rest of the league yesterday, defeating the Islanders 2-1 in New York. Hammond made 34 saves on the night, including a whopping 22 in the second period alone.
Hammond is now 9-0-1 and is the first goalie since 1939 to begin his NHL career allowing two or fewer goals in 10 straight games.
