We’ve got a pretty busy schedule in the NHL tonight, with nine games on tap. Let’s take this down-time for our daily look at the headlines and see which players are making news out there for their efforts on the ice.
Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay Lightning: Stamkos had an excellent evening against the Canadiens, posting two goals and an assist in a 4-2 victory. His teammate Victor Hedman would add a goal and an assist of his own.
The Lightning move to 43-21-7 with the victory and are now in a tie with Montreal for the Atlantic Division lead. They’re both two points behind the Rangers.

Jordan Eberle, RW, Edmonton Oilers: Eberle led the Oilers in an explosive victory over the Maple Leafs last night, getting the win 4-1. He had a goal and two assists in this one, while teammate Benoit Pouliot logged a pair of goals.
The victory ends a seven-game losing skid for Edmonton. They’re now 19-39-12 on the year and have scored 10 power-play goals in their last five games.
Jonathan Quick, G, Los Angeles Kings: Quick tossed a shutout last night against the Coyotes at Staples Center, anchoring a 1-0 victory for the Kings. He made 25 saves in this one, helping the Kings to secure the second Wild Card slot at 34-22-13.
As for the Coyotes, they’ve lost seven straight on the road and sit at 21-41-8.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals: Kuznetsov got to play a big part in the Caps’ 4-3 shootout win over the Sabres last night, scoring a goal in both regulation and the SO.
Washington sports a 38-23-10 record and is now four points ahead of the Bruins as the first Wild Card team in the conference.
