The Columbus Blue Jackets have had a disappointing season and will not be going to the playoffs as they sit 19 points back of the Bruins for the final wild card spot and simply don't have the talent to compete this season. The Jackets were expected to make some noise after a respectable showing in the postseason a year ago but they never really found that second level and have been coasting along most of the season and add in the injury to Sergei Bobrovsky and you have a nightmare of a season that will hopefully soon be forgotten. The Jackets will lean on Bobrovsky in this one as he will go up against Ben Scrivens as they look for their 18th road win of the year.
The Oilers have also had a disappointing season and one that has become all too familiar for Oilers fans who haven't seen the playoffs since 2006 and have been stockpiling top end draft picks for the last eight years. Edmonton is though coming off a nice win against the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs in a spot where they raced out to a 4-0 lead before the 12 minute mark of the first period and while they didn't score the rest of the way they held it down defensively and finished victorious with a 4-1 win. Edmonton hasn't had a lot to cheer about this season but Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle have been on fire and in a game between two teams that really have nothing to play for it boggles my mind that Edmonton is the dog here. We will gladly take this price and skate to another winner.
