If it seems like the Calgary Flames have been in must win games all season long, it’s because they have been. Nothing has changed recently for the Flames, and that’s a good thing for a young club that doesn’t need to get caught up in everything that is going on around them. Along with a young club comes a lot of mistakes, and those have resulted in lot of lost points that Calgary probably should have secured. The good news is that there have been a lot of other teams that have unexpected struggled in the Western Conference this season, and that has allowed the Flames to stay in contention all year long. Currently the Flames are neck and neck with the Los Angeles Kings for the third and final spot in the Pacific Division standings, and both clubs also are still alive for a wild card berth. After a difficult loss in Colorado against the Avalanche last week, the Flames returned the favor on Monday night. David Jones opened the scoring in the first period after he buried a one timer off a feed from Lance Bouma to give Calgary a 1-0 lead. Colorado would tie the game late in the period, but the Flames would answer right back on Jiri Hudler’s 27th goal of the season coming with just 16 seconds remaining in the frame. Bouma would add a goal of his own in the third period and despite giving up one more goal to the Avalanche, Kari Ramo was able to make the saves when his club needed him in the 3-2 victory. It was nice to see the Flames get some contributions from some different players in this one, even if Hudler managed to chip in as well. Far too many nights the Flames have had to rely on one line offensively, so if players like Jones and Bouma can contribute it will give Calgary a much greater chance to hold off the Kings over their final 10 games.

Calgary Flames vs. Dallas Stars - 3/25/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Stars are in the perfect position to play spoiler down the stretch here with plenty of games against teams on the playoff bubble. That’s not a good thing for teams like Calgary because of how well the Stars have been playing of late. Dallas has now won three straight overall and six of their last seven heading into Wednesday night’s contest. Monday night’s performance at home against the Buffalo Sabres was not one of their best recently, but the Stars continue to find a way to win. Jamie Benn’s 25th goal of the season tied the game for the Stars with just 29 seconds remaining in the opening period, but Buffalo would regain the lead with the only goal in the second. Benn would add his second of the game and 26th of the night early in the third period with the Stars on the man advantage, but once again Buffalo would answer back after a wild sequence. It looked like this might be the night that the Stars came up short, but Tyler Seguin took a feed from Been and fired one toward the net that was deflected by Patrick Eaves to even things up once more. Cody Eakin then finished off the comeback with his 17th goal of the season to lift the Stars to a 4-3 win. There’s noting more that Dallas would like than to ruin Calgary’s season, and with two games coming up against the Flames they have a great opportunity to do that.

Calgary is a home favorite in this one and like all of these games for the Flames it is a must win. It’s clear that the odds makers are giving some love to the Stars with this line, and rightfully so. Dallas has been playing as well as anyone in the league lately and they won’t be a pushover in this one.
