The Canadiens look to shake off an overtime loss in their last outing as they head into Winnipeg to take on a Jets team who is clinging to a playoff spot.
USA TODAY Sports
The Canadiens lost in overtime to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night but the single point pushed the team tot he 100-point mark making them the first to do so this season and as such they sit atop the Atlantic division and Eastern Conference. The Habs have been as good as anyone in the league this season and a large portion of their success goes to the play of Carey Price who is not only a front runner for the Vezina Trophy but is in the mix for the Hart Trophy and would be the first goaltender to do so since Jose Theodore did it for the Canadiens back in 2002. However, Price will get the night off here as Dustin Tokarski will start and he will play opposite Mike Hutchinson.
The Jets are in a tight race for the Western Conference wild card positions and heading into tonight's action they hold down the final spot and need every point moving forward. Winnipeg has enjoyed a very successful season and are starting to break through as a contender in this league and while they may be a season or two away from competing they are making the right strides and giving their great fan base a playoff series would be a huge success. Winnipeg is coming off a loss but are 6-4 in their last 10 games and have 20 of their 38 wins on home ice and while the Canadiens are the better team I think the Jets are the more desperate of the two sides and should utilize home ice here to net the victory.
