The Blackhawks look to shake off a loss and get back in the race in the Central division when they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to the United Center on Friday.

The Blue Jackets have had a disappointing season and have fallen well short of expectations as the perennial preseason playoff pick sits seventh in the wild card standings and are 13 points out of a playoff spot with nine games remaining. Columbus though has started to pick up some momentum down the stretch as they are winners of four games in a row and have gone 8-2 in their last 10 overall as they are showing signs of the brilliance many expected to see in October and if it is any consolation it gives them a sense of optimism heading into next season and leaves things open for a signing or two in the off season. Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start in goal as he will go up against Corey Crawford in a great goaltending show down.
The Blackhawks meanwhile have won seven of their last 10 but are coming off a loss that prevented their climb up the Central division standings from growing any further and now they sit six points back of Nashville for first place in the division. Chicago has been able to rally around the absence of Patrick Kane and while it may come back to bite them come playoff time they are looking more than capable of succeeding without him at the moment and while their remains some optimism he might be back it is highly doubtful the team will rush him and risk permanent damage that could ruin his career and their franchise. The line on this one reflects the talent disparity as well as the separation in the standings but I think the better play is the total here and with these two goaltenders going, the Hawks needing a win badly, and the Hawks without their best forward I think this one stays under the number with ease.
