The Calgary Flames caught a nice break on their first goal of the playoffs in the second period against the Canucks on Wednesday which probably shouldn’t have counted but you have to give them full credit as they take advantage and potted the game winner with 30 seconds left to steal game one. The Flames have been a third period team all season long and lived up to that mantra once again and if they can get a win on Friday it would be an absolutely massive turn in the series heading back to Calgary. The Flames will continue to ride Jonas Hiller who has been great for them since coming over from the Anaheim Ducks and he will go up against Eddie Lack who has taken over as the team's starter since Ryan Miller went down with injury and will likely finish out the year as the team's go to however long that may be.
The Vancouver Canucks have been road warriors all season long and they'll have to rely on it once again after dropping their series opener in heartbreaking fashion but they will have their sights set on a pivotal game two tonight. The Canucks have a boatload of playoff experience but they just don't seem to have the same sense of swagger that we have seen in years past despite having some great pieces in place for a playoff push. The Canucks finished second in the Pacific division ahead of the Flames but it is Calgary who has been playing the better hockey and to many were the favourites coming into the series. Vancouver absolutely needs to win this one and I do think they rebound after a game they likely should have won on Wednesday.
