Anaheim Ducks vs. Winnipeg Jets - 4/18/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Winnipeg Jets (43-27-13) at Anaheim Ducks (52-24-7)

NHL Hockey: Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:30 pm (Honda Center)

The Line: Anaheim Ducks -140 / Winnipeg Jets +120 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

The Winnipeg Jets hope to buck the odds and even their series with the Anaheim Ducks.

The Winnipeg Jets probably know you have to play a full 60 minutes to win in the Stanley Cup playoffs and if they didn’t they were given a reminder from Anaheim who scored three times in the third to hand the Jets a 4-2 defeat. The visitors were poised for the upset with a 2-1 lead after two periods before the wheels fell off. The Jets received goals from Adam Lowry and Drew Stafford while Ondrej Pavelec was touched for all four goals on 33 shots. Winnipeg has not been in the postseason since the team was the Atlanta Thrashers so many wonder if they can handle the pressure of the Stanley Cup playoffs which are as intense as any in professional sports. I think the Jets need to worry about Anaheim which has beaten them in all four meetings this year.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Winnipeg Jets - 4/18/15 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Anaheim Ducks can seem to be lackluster at times which to the average fan means they don’t always hammer lower echelon squads but they must be doing something right as the top seed in the Western Conference. The Ducks did look lackluster through two periods in the opener but completely dominated the final 20 minutes. The offense operated like a well oiled machine with Corey Perry leading the third period charge with a pair of goals while also posting two helpers. Captain Ryan Getzlaf added a goal and a pair of assists while Sami Vatenan scored in the first. Frederik Andersen recorded 25 stops in picking up the victory while holding Winnipeg to 0-3 with the man advantage with the Ducks converting on 2-3 on the power play.

The Jets are 0-5 in their last 5 Conference Quarterfinals games and are 5-0 in their last 5 Saturday games while going  9-1 in their last 10 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 8-1-2 in Ducks last 11 Saturday games and the over is 5-1-1 in last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while Anaheim are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. Head to head the Jets are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings while the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Anaheim and is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. No line is out yet but it will be -140ish I believe…
