The Minnesota Wild take the ice with the St Louis Blues in game three of their opening round series on Monday.
The Minnesota Wild would have loved to bring home a 2-0 series lead for game number three on home ice but the fact of the matter is they won the opener at St Louis and now own the home ice advantage which is a not too shabby an accomplishment. Of course the home ice advantage won’t mean much if the Wild duplicate Saturday’s performance where the offense never got untracked and the defense wasn’t able to control the scoreboard in a 4-1 loss. St Louis led from start to finish and when Minnesota cut their deficit to one they could not get the equalizer. Marco Scandella posted the lone Wild goal early in the third while Devan Dubnyk absorbing the loss with three goals allowed on 26 shots.

The St Louis Blues knew they needed to avoid an 0-2 deficit with a trip to Minnesota on deck and the key was to get an early lead and keep the pressure on. Mission accomplished on both fronts with the home team taking a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes on the way to a 4-1 victory to even the series 1-1. Vladimir Tarasenko was the offensive star with a hat trick while Patrik Berglund also found the back of the net to give the Blues some much needed scoring with Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Steen posting two assists apiece. Jake Allen stood tall between the pipes with 24 saves to pick up the victory while the defense and Allen did not fold when the Wild pulled within 2-1 with less then two minutes in to the final period.
The Blues are 1-5 in their last 6 Conference Quarterfinals games while the over is 3-0-2 in Blues last 5 Conference Quarterfinals games with St Louis going 4-1 in their last 5 Monday games.
