NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
April 30, 2015
Now that Round 1 of the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs is all finished up, we can focus on Round 2, which begins tonight. We’ve got two games to look forward to, but in the meantime let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening in the headlines.
Ben Bishop, G, Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning are headed to the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, thanks to a great effort from Bishop in last night’s Game 7 against the Red Wings. He put up 31 saves in a shutout, helping Tampa to a 2-0 win.
The Lightning will now head on to the second round, where they’ll face the Canadiens for the second year in a row. That series opens up tomorrow at Bell Centre.

The Rangers’ Keith Yandle was able to return to the practice ice yesterday, which is a great sign that he’ll be available for tonight’s Round 2 opener against the Caps.
Yandle has been out of practice for over a week due to general soreness but has been able to play in each of the Rangers’ postseason games.
The Canadiens’ Nathan Beaulieu will be missing at least the first four games of his team’s Round 2 playoff series.
Beaulieu will be replaced with more Greg Pateryn, who will fill in if the injury stint (upper body) runs longer.
The Sharks’ Matt Nieto has a fractured foot, according to sources close to the team.
Nieto should be good to go once the team gets back to business in the fall for training camp.
