The Calgary Flames look to even their series with the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday at the Honda Center.
The Calgary Flames were well aware of their road record against the Anaheim Ducks heading in to Thursday’s series opener but after 60 minutes it turned out to be the same old story with the Ducks walking away with a 6-1 victory. I don’t know if it’s more mental or physical for the Flames but looking at the game it was simply a case of struggling to score and prevent the Ducks from doing the same. The numbers tell the story with the visitors outshot 35-24 with Sam Bennett scoring the lone goal in the third when the outcome was already decided. Jonas Hiller was given the hook in the second period with three goals allowed on just 14 shots while Karri Ramo fared no better with three more goals scored on 21 shots.

The Anaheim Ducks stayed on a roll with a one sided game one victory against Calgary at the Honda Center for their 5th consecutive victory in the postseason. The Ducks scored two times in each period with five different players finding the back of the net. Corey Perry was the offensive star with a pair of tallies and a pair of assists while Ryan Getzlaf lit the lamp and contributed a trio of assists. Matt Beleskey, Emerson Etam and Patrick Maroon also found the scoring column as they blitzed the Calgary net with 35 shots and made the most of their opportunities. The Ducks were just as effective at the defensive end of the ice as they limited the amount of rubber Frederik Andersen saw. Andersen recorded 23 saves to pick up the victory while keeping his team perfect in the playoffs with a 5-0 record.
The over is 5-0-1 in Flames last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while the under is 5-1-1 in Flames last 7 games following a loss. The Ducks are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record while going 6-1 in their last 7 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Flames are 2-27-3 in the last 32 meetings in Anaheim and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the home the team is 42-11-1 in the last 54 meetings. No line is available but it’s difficult not to look at Anaheim in some form or the over…
