The Minnesota Wild looked down and out after conceding and early three goal lead but they showed great persistence and battled their way back into game one which ultimately went the way of the Blackhawks but generated some much needed momentum. The Wild have been on a tear over the last few months and disposed of the St. Louis Blues in the opening round and while the task is just as if not more tough this time around they know they can compete with the Hawks and upending them in this series would be a huge move forward in their quest for a Stanley Cup. Defensively, the Wild need to be better here especially in the first period and with Ryan Suter leading the charge we can expect that will happen and this one should be a lot tighter and evenly matched.
The Blackhawks fought back after losing their early lead and took an important victory in game one and while there is plenty more work to do they have to feel good being up 1-0 heading into Sunday's game two. Chicago is defintiely a Cup contender and were treated as such when Patrick Kane was cleared to play and the former first overall pick is proving once again he is one of the best players in the world and if he, Jonathan Toews, and the rest of the Hawks roster can elevate their game even more they will be a tough team to slow down. While I think Chicago wins this series I do think the Wild will push them the distance and even though Minny was sloppy defensively in game one I wasn't overly impressed with the Hawks either and I like the Wild to rebound here and tie the series.
