NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
May 5, 2015
After just one game in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, we’ve got two more to look forward to this evening. While we’re waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s check out some of the notable players in the headlines today.
Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals: The Capitals have taken a 2-1 series edge on the defending Eastern Conference champion Rangers after a 1-0 shutout victory last night in DC.
Holtby stopped all 30 shots that came his way, and Jay Beagle scored the eventual game winning-goal in the second period. It was Holtby’s first shutout this playoffs and his second in his postseason career.
On the other side, goalie Henrik Lundqvist allowed one goal on 22 shots in what’s turning into a very defense-minded series.
Game 4 is tomorrow at Verizon Center.

In Blackhawks news, the team will be installing Corey Crawford back in the net for Game 3 against the Wild tonight.
Crawford has posted two straight victories in this series, so it’s not a big surprise that he’s remaining in the crease over Scott Darling.
The Blackhawks have a nine-game playoff winning streak over the Wild right now.
In other goaltender news, the Flames’ Karri Ramo will stay in the net for Game 3 against the Ducks.
Ramo came on in relief of Jonas Hiller in Game 2, stopping 31 of 33 shots he faced. Calgary is facing an uphill battle in this series, though; they’re down 2-0.
