The New York Rangers look to even their series with the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
After going all the way to the Stanley Cup finals a season ago and capturing the President’s Trophy this year the New York Rangers were one of the favorites to hoist the Cup. However the Capitals have the upper hand in the Eastern conference semifinals with a 1-0 decision in Monday’s game three which has the New Yorkers staring at a 2-1 series deficit with game number four scheduled for the Verizon Center on Wednesday. The offense struggled to score but did total 30 shots so there were opportunities. In the end the Rangers couldn’t solve Braden Holtby and Henrik Lundqvist allowed a goal on 22 shots which wasn’t good enough.

The Washington Capitals have both the ability to score the puck and defend which makes them a dangerous squad. The Capitals maintained the home ice advantage with a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers behind great work in the nets by Braden Holtby who brushed aside 30 shots to record his second career postseason whitewash. In the process the Caps took a 2-1 series lead and can put their rivals behind the eight ball with another win at the Verizon Center on Wednesday. Jay Beagle found the back of the net in the second period at around 7 ½ minutes in to the period with both goalies and defenses controlling the game the rest of the way
The under is 4-0-1 in Rangers last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while going 4-0-1 in Rangers last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. The under is 3-0-1 in Capitals last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and is 4-0-1 in Capitals last 5 vs. Metropolitan while going 4-0-1 in Capitals last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. The under is 21-5-3 in the last 29 meetings in Washington and is 27-13-11 in the last 51 meetings. No line is out but the way both teams are defending I expect another tight game but check back when things are confirmed…
