The Chicago Blackhawks have a chance to book their ticket to the Western Conference finals with a victory in Minnesota on Thursday night and with the way they have been playing defensively it would come as no surprise to see them do it. The Hawks are 7-2 so far in these playoffs and with Corey Crawford seemingly over his early postseason funk this team could be in cruise control en route to their third Cup in six seasons as they have the experience, the fire power, the leadership, the coaching, and the role players and now with the goaltending falling into place they will be tough to stop. With that being said the Wild are a very solid hockey team and will be playing in full on desperation mode tonight in front of one of the louder buildings in the league and I think they will be in tough to close it out tonight.
The Wild weren't supposed to make it out of the first round in the eyes of many but defeating the Blues in seven games is an impressive feat and as such they started to garner a lot of attention as a potential Cup dark horse but through three games against the Hawks it is clear who is among the league's elite. Minny has ridden the play of Devan Dubnyk since his arrival from Arizona and the move was of absolute genius as he finally reached his potential but this is his first taste of playoff hockey and against a veteran savvy lineup it doesn't bode well in a seven game set. However, I like the Wild to get it done tonight before heading back to the United Center where I see their season ultimately come to an end.
