NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
May 8, 2015
We’ve got a couple of big, big games coming up in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight. Before we get settled in for all that action, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see who’s making news out there right now.
Max Pacioretty, LW, Montreal Canadiens: The Lightning came into last night’s game against the Canadiens up 3-0 and ready to break out the brooms. Montreal, however, had other ideas.
Pacioretty led the way for his team with a goal and two assists, while P.K. Subban added two helpers of his own in a 6-2 victory last night in Tampa, staving off the sweep and giving a little life to Montreal’s season.
The Canadiens had the edge in shots on goal by quite a margin, out-shooting the Lightning 40-24.
Can Montreal do the impossible and come back to win four straight and take the series? We’ll see--their first step comes in Game 5 tomorrow night.

Corey Crawford, G, Chicago Blackhawks: Speaking of sweeps, the Blackhawks had the opportunity to do just that in their series Game 4 against the Wild last night, and they were able to make it happen.
Crawford put up 34 saves on 37 shots here, while Seabrook, Shaw, Kane and Hossa each scored a goal. Chicago was up 4-1 late in the third before two late goals made it 4-3 at the final horn.
This is the third straight year the Blackhawks have bounced the Wild from the playoffs, and will be the fifth time in the last seven seasons that Chicago is in the Western Conference Final.
The Wild have won just three postseason games against the Blackhawks in three years.
