The Anaheim Ducks look to close out the Calgary Flames at the Honda Center in game five on Sunday.
The Calgary Flames seemed to have broken the stranglehold Anaheim has had on them with their game three victory but the Ducks were right back at it in Friday’s 4-2 win in game four for a 3-1 series lead. The Scotiabank Saddledome crowd had to be hopeful with the Flames up 2-1 after 20 minutes of hockey but as the Ducks have often done in this match up, they took over when they needed to. The bottom line is Calgary couldn’t muster any more offense and Anaheim did. Sean Monahan and Micheal Ferland scored in the first for the Flames but Karri Ramo was charged for three goals on 28 shots to absorb the loss. The Flames go on the road to face the Ducks where they are 2-28-3 in the last 33 meetings.

The Anaheim Ducks had to be concerned when Calgary took a 2-1 first period lead because the Flames had played them even for most of game two and beat them at the Scotiabank Saddledome in game three. However Ducks fans had nothing to worry about as Frederik Andersen and the defense stifled the Flames offense the rest of the way while the offense broke through. The series now returns to the Honda Center with Anaheim holding the cards with a 3-1 series lead. Matt Belesky scored the game winner in the third and Patrick Maroon tallied an empty netter with Jakob Silfverberg scoring in the first on the power play while Andrew Cogliano went five hole in the second. Andersen shook off a shaky opening first to record to record 25 saves in the win.
The Flames are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and the over is 6-1-1 in Flames last 8 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while Calgary are 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest. The Ducks are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. a team with a winning record and are 5-1 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 5-1 in Ducks last 6 vs. Western Conference. The Flames are 2-28-3 in the last 33 meetings in Anaheim and the over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings while the home team is 43-11 in the last 54 meetings. Nothing out yet but I am looking at Anaheim or the over in some fashion…
