The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to take home ice advantage right away with a statement victory in game one against the reigning East champs and the current President's Trophy holders in what will be a very exciting series between two teams who have developed a rivalry over the last 12 months. The Bolts have pushed through two match ups against Atlantic division foes as they have outlasted the Red Wings and Canadiens while the Blue Shirts ousted the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals to set up this show down in which the winner will head to the Stanley Cup finals and according to the odds makers this looks like it could be a short series in favour of New York. However, the Bolts had the best offense in the league during the regular season and Ben Bishop has been incredible in his career against the Rangers and I think a lot of people will be surprised with how close this series will be.
The Rangers are coming off a very impressive rally as they capped their momentum and three game winning streak with a game seven victory that sent the Capitals packing and now they have another chance at getting back to the Stanley Cup finals. The Blue Shirts fell down 3-1 to the Caps and now have to deal with another offensive juggernaut but the key in this series could be the show down between the Rangers sputtering offense and Ben Bishop in the Tampa crease. To be honest I didn't think the Rangers were going to pull off the come back and while they have all the momentum now it is very tough to win four playoff games in a row and this game might take some time to get acclimated. However, both teams will have studied hard the tendencies of the opposing goaltender and as such I think we see a relatively high scoring game in the first of this series.
