May 18, 2015
The conference finals are both officially underway in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, and for the next week or so we’ll be getting one game per night as the postseason rolls on. That said, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the league right now.
Frederik Andersen, G, Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks drew first blood in their Western Conference Finals series against the Blackhawks yesterday, taking a 4-1 victory in Anaheim.
Andersen was rock-solid, posting 32 saves on 33 shots. Hampus Lindholm and Nate Thompson each had a goal and an assist on the offensive end.
The Ducks are undefeated so far in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs (5-0) when they score the first goal. In the regular season, they were 36-5-6 under that circumstance.
On the flip side, the formula for Chicago seems to be getting a lead and holding it. They’re 30-0-0 in the regular season and postseason when leading after two periods.
Game 2 of this series will be tomorrow at Honda Center.

Over in the Eastern Conference Finals, let’s check on a news item from yesterday that could be affecting tonight’s game. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brian Boyle was unable to take the ice at practice yesterday, due to an undisclosed injury.
Boyle is currently questionable for tonight; he didn’t play in Game 1, instead being replaced by Jonathan Marchessault (rookie).
Boyle’s presence isn’t necessarily felt on the stat sheet; he’s more of a penalty-killer and face-off contributor, averaging over 15 minutes of ice time these playoffs.
NHL Daily Schedule: Here’s a look at the upcoming games on the NHL schedule, including the start times and TV networks where you can catch each matchup.
