The Eastern Conference Finals will be wrapping up in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight, and tomorrow we’ll see who will be joining the winner as the Western Conference finishes up. In the meantime, let’s take our daily look at the headlines.
The Jackets’ Cody Goloubef inked a two-year, one-way deal with the team yesterday. He’s coming off an increasingly large role in Columbus, logging 23 shots on goal with nine assists and a plus-12 rating. Look for him to be a pretty good bet to make the roster in 2015-16.

The Lightning’s Cedric Paquette was able to practice yesterday, which is a good sign for his potential availability tonight.
Paquette hurt his hand in Game 5, and had to sit out Game 6. We’ll see how he feels this evening.
Speaking of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Rangers also have a notable injury concern heading into the all-important Game 7. Winger Mats Zuccarello was able to practice yesterday on a limited basis, but didn’t absorb any contact.
It looks like we won’t be seeing Zuccarello at all for the rest of the playoffs unless the Rangers are able to advance.
The Captials’ Nicklas Backstrom had arthroscopic hip surgery this week, starting his road to recovery for the 2015-16 season.
Backstrom is scheduled to be back to 100 percent by the time the new season gets here; it’s believed that he was just trying to get out in front of his hip problems before they got too debilitating.
He’s coming off an 18-goal, 60-assist season in Washington, playing all 82 games for the team.
