NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on the Latest News, Daily Schedule and More
June 2, 2015
We’ve still got one more day to wait before the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Finals begin. In the meantime, there are plenty of topics to cover from teams around the league. Let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there.
The Sabres got some good news early this week, when it was reported that winger Evander Kane will be back sooner than anticipated after his shoulder surgery.
Kane was originally expected to be out for around 4-6 months, but should be back to 100 percent at the most optimistic end of that timetable.
He’ll spend the remainder of the off-season getting back up to speed and should hit the ice at full strength come the regular season.

In other injury news, the Penguins’ Kris Letang has just recently gotten back to on-ice training, which is a positive step in his recovery from a concussion.
Letang had to sit out the last two weeks or so of the regular season, and couldn’t play at all in the playoffs.
All of that said, the initial feeling is that Letang should be back and ready to go by the start of the regular season. Still, it’s a bit concerning that he’s had multiple concussions and a stroke in recent years.
Let’s check out a few injury items for the Blackhawks ahead of tomorrow’s game one of the Finals.
Center Marcus Kruger is good to go after taking a hit from a Ducks player late in Game 7, and he’ll be able to hit the ice tomorrow.
Winger Bryan Bickell is also healthy and will play in tomorrow’s game. There had been some speculation that he was nursing an injury after Game 7 due to his lack of ice time late in the game, but that appears to be a coach’s decision.
As for Trevor van Riemsdyk, he’s making the trip to Tampa Bay with the rest of the team for tomorrow’s Game 1. We’ll get some more clarity on his playing status tomorrow, but he could potentially be available for this one.
